$1.6 MILLION IN MARIJUANA INTERCEPTED FROM COMMERCIAL SHIPMENTS

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the World Trade Bridge seized a large amount of marijuana on March 12, 2020 that totaled $1.6 million in street value in Laredo, Texas.

The enforcement action occurred after officers assigned to a cargo facility encountered a shipment of scrap metal arriving from Mexico on a 2013 Freight liner truck and trailer.

The Freight liner truck was referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection resulting in the discovery of 854 packages containing 8414.6 pounds of alleged marijuana concealed within the commodity. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $1,682,903.
