CONVICTED FELON GETS 6 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF GUN

Date:

U.S. Attorney Andrew Murray announced that Takobie Anderson, 20, was sentenced in the federal court of Charlotte, NC on August 17, 2020. Takobie was sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm. Takobie was ordered to serve 82 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.

The prison sentence stems from a shooting on April 21, 2019. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in Charlotte, NC in response to a report of a shooting.

A male and a female had been shot and had sustained injuries. Prosecutors say Takobie had shot the two victims following a verbal altercation between the victims and a relative. At the time of the shooting Takobie was on probation for a state conviction and was wearing an ankle monitor.

Takobie was arrested two days later on April 23, 2019. At the time of his arrest, a loaded stolen firearm was found. Takobie has a previous felony conviction and he is prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition.
