On August 17, 2020 Zatario Stewart, 28, and Tobias McNeil, 20, were both charged with the murder of Cory Carpenter, 27.
Cory was shot to death on the side of a road in Matthews, NC on August 10, 2020. On the day of the murder around 8:14 a.m., Matthews Police officers responded to Lakeview Circle regarding an abandoned vehicle.
After further investigation of the surrounding area, officers found Cory dead on the shoulder of the road. During the crime scene investigation, detectives determined it appeared Cory had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
