WOMAN KILLED BY ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVER IN MASSIVE REAR END COLLISION

Date:

Malonda Caldron, 44, died on December 1, 2020 in a Charlotte, NC car wreck. Anthony Ebron, 62, is charged in the fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on Reagan Drive.

At 6:05 p.m. on December 1, 2020, Malonda along with a 5-year-old child were in a Ford vehicle stopped in traffic, waiting to turn left onto Ventura Way Drive when she was struck in the rear by a Honda car driven by Anthony.

He was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed.

Both vehicles had sustained extensive damage. Malonda and the five-year-old passenger were transported to the hospital where Malonda was pronounced deceased. The five-year-old passenger and Anthony sustained minor injuries. The Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force, and Crime Scene Search responded to conduct the investigation.

Anthony was screened and determined to be impaired. It was also determined his license was suspended as a result of an impaired driving offense which occurred in the past. After Anthony was treated for the minor injuries he sustained during this crash, he was released to police custody and interviewed by detectives.

Anthony is charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, driving while license revoked for impaired driving, possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage, and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
