On December 27, 2020 Jason Latta, 20, and Mykayla Pratt, 18, were arrested in Charlotte, NC and charged with an armed robbery.
The alleged robbery was at apartments on Seigle Ave. On December 26, 2020, two victims were leaving their apartment and noticed two suspects inside their vehicle. The victims confronted the suspects, and one of the suspects pointed a handgun and robbed them.
The suspects later allegedly used the victim’s credit card. Officers were able to locate the suspects who fled in a stolen vehicle, officials say.
Officers pursued the vehicle until the suspects wrecked at Interstate 85 and Graham Street. Mykayla was arrested. The vehicle driver identified as Jason fled on foot and allegedly fired one shot from a gun at the officer during the foot pursuit.
Officers did not return fire at the suspect. With the K-9 Unit and aviation unit’s assistance, they were able to locate Jason behind a warehouse.
Jason was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement officer, resist obstruct delay, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, and felony flee to elude.
Mykayla was charged with armed robbery and breaking and entering of a vehicle.
