FELON IS SENTENCED TO 9 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ARMED ROBBERY OF STORE

On February 16, 2021 Yakotus Odum, 31, was sentenced to 114 months in prison and five years of supervised release in connection with the 2018 armed robbery of a convenience store.

In March 2018 Yakotus robbed a Circle K convenience store located at 516 Cox Road Gastonia, NC. Trial evidence established that Yakotus stole approximately $100 from the cash register at gunpoint.

Yakotus was already on supervised release for a previous federal felony conviction for illegal firearm possession when he committed the armed robbery. Yakotus is currently in federal custody and upon designation of a federal facility he will be transferred into custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

On September 25, 2020, a federal jury convicted Yakotus of Hobbs Act robbery, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
