Children were playing with their mother’s gun when at least one shot and killed her by mistake
25-year-old Gabriel Henderson was shot dead by at least one of her children in the back bedroom of her apartment on February 15, 2021 in Cornelius, NC.
Gabriel’s children found a gun inside her purse and she was accidentally shot around 6:55 p.m. at an apartment on Meridian Street. The gun was a small semi-automatic handgun. The only people inside the apartment at the time of the shooting was Gabriel and her 5 children.
One of the kids found the gun inside their mom’s purse and somehow the gun went off, killing Gabriel and injuring her youngest child. The injured child was taken to a hospital in Charlotte and is expected to be okay.
Gabriel died immediately. The gun was found on the bed next to Gabriel.
Four of the children were in the room with Gabriel at the time of the shooting. The oldest child was in the living room, away from the others when the shooting occurred.
