Tracey Witherspoon, 18, is charged with murdering 16-year-old Jeremiah Woodard-Pegues on Allen Street Charlotte, NC. Tracey was arrested on May 14, 2021.
Jeremiah was shot and killed on May 13, 2021 on Allen St. late at night.
While investigating the homicide, officers observed a vehicle in the area and learned the vehicle was stolen. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and fled from the officers.
Officers did not engage in a vehicle pursuit; however, the police helicopter followed the vehicle and directed officers to where its occupants had jumped and ran from the vehicle.
Officers quickly apprehended the vehicle’s occupants, who were then interviewed by detectives.
At the conclusion of the interviews, Tracey was charged with murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
It is not clear what the other vehicle occupants were charged with.
