SUSPECT CHARGED IN 7-ELEVEN ROBBERY THAT LEFT STORE OWNER SHOT AND HOSPITALIZED

Date:

James Murray, 22, allegedly tried to rob a 7-Eleven, but he got shot instead of some quick cash.

On September 9, 2019 at 3:04 a.m., the 7-Eleven on 5343 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC was robbed.

James allegedly entered the 7-Eleven in an attempt to rob it, and then discharged a gun striking the store owner. The store owner, who was legally armed, perceived an imminent threat. The owner then fired a personal gun and struck the suspect.

The suspect fled the scene but was located nearby with a gunshot wound. A blood trial led to the suspect’s location which was at a nearby business. The victim and suspect were both transported by Medic to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.

Upon release from the hospital, James will be served with warrants for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.
