WOMAN KILLED ON 4TH OF JULY DURING CAR WRECK, MAN ARRESTED

Date:

Rinnell Curry, 33, was killed on the 4th of July holiday 2021 during a hit-and-run traffic fatality on West Boulevard Charlotte, NC. Jody Yeldell, 46, is charged in Rinnell’s death.

Shortly before 11:40 p.m. on July 4, 2021, officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on West Boulevard.

The initial investigation indicates that Rinnell was standing away from her vehicle and in the roadway when a black 2013 Chrysler 300 struck her and then fled the scene, according to officials.

The Chrysler was allegedly driven by Jody.

Rinnell had sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and she was pronounced deceased.

Detectives were able to obtain information on the Chrysler vehicle and located the vehicle at the suspect’s home shortly after the crash. This led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect.

Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors for the suspect. Toxicology results are pending for Rinnell.

Jody is charged with driving while license revoked, DWI, felony death by motor vehicle and felony hit and run.
