Newly released video shows the moments a cop in Charlotte was shot in the chest by a teenager. The 14-year-old suspect was charged with attempted murder after shooting the police officer identified as Elliott Whitley on December 27, 2021 at apartments on Winged Elm Court Charlotte, NC.
The teen suspect had an extensive felony history including charges in 46 criminal cases dating back as far as 2014.
The attempted murder was around 7 in the morning. Officers were dispatched to a larceny from vehicle in progress call on Winged Elm Court at apartments.The caller also advised that the suspect had pointed a firearm at a nearby citizen. Responding officers made contact with the suspect, who fled on foot. During a brief foot chase, the teenage suspect fired at Officer Whitley, striking the officer in the chest.Officer Whitley returned fire, but the teenage suspect was not struck by gunfire. Perhaps Officer Whitley’s aim was off after just getting shot. The teenager was quickly arrested and taken into custody.Officer Whitley was transported to an area hospital and was treated for non life threatening injuries.
