On June 28, 2024 a drunk driver operating an SUV slammed into a nail salon killing 4 people in Long Island, NY. Among the dead was an NYPD police officer.
Meizi Zhang, 50, Yan Xu, 41, Jiancai Chen, 37, and NYPD officer Emilia Rennhack, 30, were killed in the crash. The fatal collision was at the Hawaii Nail and Spa.
The male driver of a 2020 Chevy Traverse was drunk when he ran off the road at a high rate of speed and drove right into the nail spa.
The crash shook the building. The 4 victims were killed on impact. 10 other people were injured from the head on collision.
The driver of the SUV had blood shot eyes and admitted to having 18 beers, the driver was hospitalized for minor injuries and then arrested.
