SUSPECTS CHARGED WITH SHOOTING INTO APARTMENT, ARRESTED

Date:

Amari McCaskill,19, and Lamar McCaskill, 21, were arrested for allegedly firing shots into an apartment.

On January 22, 2019, at 9:26 p.m., police responded to the 6500 block of East WT Harris Boulevard in reference to a shooting.

An occupied apartment had been shot into, and fortunately no one inside was injured. One of the residents provided a possible suspect name which was broadcasted by officers.

Members from the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) were monitoring the call and determined a subject with that name was currently on Electronic Monitoring and had pinged in the apartment complex moments before the 911 call.

The RTCC was able to locate a possible vehicle on camera and provided officers with the description.

The Aviation Unit responded to assist and was able to locate the vehicle and provide real time location updates to patrol officers.

Officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop and detain Amari and Lamar, one of which was the named suspect.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located a firearm that matched the evidence that was collected at the shooting scene.

Both suspects were charged with Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property.
