Date:

The devil showed up to church today with a gun. 23-year-old Esvin Perez was shot at church by a reckless suspect during a service on Sunday August 25, 2019.

A search is underway for the man who shot a gun inside of a Columbia church and hit a member of the congregation during a Sunday morning robbery. The shooting occurred just after 6 a.m. during a service at the Centro Cristiano De Columbia Church, which is a predominantly Latino church.

A suspect entered the church alone demanding money. The church was in absolute panic during the shooting, many parents were clinging to and protecting their children. Some members of the congregation were trampled in the stampeded of people running for safety.

The devastation left many members of the congregation frightened and in tears.

The suspect is described as a tall black man and was seen jumping in a vehicle driving toward I-77. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is undergoing surgery.
