SHOOTER DIES AFTER COMMITTING DOUBLE HOMICIDE OF TEENAGE GIRL AND ADULT MAN

Date:

A third person has died in connection with a double homicide in Charlotte, NC. John Bocek, 23, died on Sunday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. John broke into a home and killed two people. Detectives determined that John knew a 16-year-old girl who lives in the home.

On February 24 John forced his way into a home on Glenn Abbey Way. While inside, he fatally shot Matthew Chaplin, who was the father of the 16-year-old girl. John also killed Jenna Hewitt, 15, Jenna was a friend who was a guest for the night.

Some accounts suggest that John desired a dating relationship with one of the teenage girls.

After her friend and father were shot, the 16-year-old girl was able to run to a neighbor’s house and call 911. She was not physically harmed in this incident.

John also shot himself after committing the double homicide, he was transported by paramedics from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

At the time of this incident, authorities had warrants charging John with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a crime that occurred at the same home last week. In the earlier incident, John was accused of physically assaulting the 16-year-old and then taking her cell phone.
