Joshua Gaither, 33, was arrested on June 23, 2022, he is accused of shooting several shots at police officers on Hunting Ridge Lane Charlotte, NC.
Shortly after 11:31 p.m. on June 23, 2022, patrol officers responded to a call in reference to a person in crisis at apartments on Hunting Ridge Lane. Upon arrival, officers established dialogue with Gaither who then allegedly fired multiple gunshots at the officers, and shot into an unoccupied marked police car, officials say.
The officers were able to move to a position of cover and call for additional officers and the CMPD SWAT Team. Officers were able to establish a perimeter around the residence where Gaither was located to make sure that there was not a threat to the community.
There was no indication that anyone else was inside of the residence other than Gaither.
The SWAT team and negotiators arrived on scene and were able to successfully de-escalate with the suspect. Gaither exited the residence on his own and was taken into custody without incident.
Gaither was arrested and charged with 2 counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.
