Daniel Peggs, 32, of Altoona, Wisconsin, was indicted February 12, 2020 by a federal grand jury. The indictment, unsealed after his arrest, alleges he recruited a minor to engage in a commercial sex act, and caused the victim to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography using a cell phone.
Daniel is the superintendent for the Altoona school district. Although, it was determined that the alleged sex crimes does not involve a student from the school district that Daniel works at.
The indictment alleges that in December 2015, Daniel used the minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct and that he used an I-Phone to make a child porn video.
If convicted, Daniel faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years and a maximum of life in federal prison on the sex trafficking of a minor charge.
The production of child pornography charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Pfluger is handling the prosecution.
