RAPE COLD CASE SOLVED THROUGH DNA EVIDENCE

Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit detectives have charged Dimarco Alexander, 40, in a sexual assault that occurred in 2006.

On September 5, 2006, shortly after 11:00p.m., a woman was raped on Rozzelles Ferry Road Charlotte, NC. The 33-year-old female was sexually assaulted by an armed suspect as she walked towards her residence. The victim was treated at the hospital and a sexual assault kit was completed. The kit was tested in 2006.

In 2018, Dimarco, who was in federal custody at the time, was identified as a suspect through DNA. On August 29, 2019, Dimarco was arrested on warrants for two counts of first degree rape.
