A husband has been arrested after his pregnant wife shot herself and killed her unborn baby.
41-year-old Luis Marcano-Marcano was arrested on April 12, 2026 accused of shooting at his pregnant wife during his birthday party in Mint Hill, NC.
Luis was having a birthday party at his house, he was drinking and got drunk. Luis got into an argument with his wife at the birthday party. Luis grabbed a gun and shot at his wife’s feet.
The wife was 7 months pregnant. The wife grabbed the gun and put it in her pocket, in doing so she accidentally shot her self in the stomach.
Luis drove his wife to Novant hospital which was nearby. The wife was bleeding extensively and lost the baby, the baby died at the hospital.
Luis was arrested at the hospital charged with discharging a gun. Luis is an illegal immigrant and an ICE detainer was placed on him.
A judge ordered Luis held on a $1 million bond, describing him as a danger to the public.
