POLICE LAUNCH THEFT STING AT LOWES HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE

Police in Matthews, NC announced the arrests of several people following an organized retail theft sting operation at the Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Matthews Township Parkway. There were a significantly high number of thefts in recent months at the store. So action was taken.

The operation began on April 17th, 2019, and ended on May 17th, 2019. 

Detectives and the Lowe’s Loss Prevention Unit used surveillance, increased uniform and undercover patrols, intelligence and crime analysis to conduct the operation, which concluded with several people being charged on 30 counts.

$5,870 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered and 69 outstanding warrants were served.

Organized retail crime is an ongoing problem but law enforcement agencies are using all available resources to combat the issue.
