On May 7, 2020 Pastor Brian Mahiques, 41, was arrested on child sex assault allegations after two victims under the age of 16 came forward. Brian is the senior pastor at Encounter Church in Concord, NC.
Pastor Brian is facing two counts of statutory sex offense and three counts of indecent liberties with a minor. Pastor Brian was the youth pastor of the Refuge Church in Concord, NC when the alleged sexual offenses happened from 2005-2006.
The two victims were members of the church youth group and said they were sexually assaulted multiple times by Pastor Brian. Both victims said that some of the alleged sexual encounters occurred during youth events and on church property. Both victims were under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged crimes.
In the spring of 2019 Concord police received a report from the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services regarding Pastor Brian.
Per an investigation, Pastor Brian was arrested a year later. The Pastor’s bond is $1 million.
