The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting Mishayla lying in a yard and a newborn baby discovered inside a trash can on September 13, 2025.

Deputies quickly arrived on scene and immediately began rendering lifesaving aid to the baby until emergency medical personnel arrived.

Both Mishayla and the baby were transported to the hospital for treatment. Following an investigation, it was confirmed that Mishayla was the child’s mother.

The infant remains hospitalized but is in stable condition. Mishayla stayed in the hospital for over a week.

On September 24, 2025, after being released from medical care, Mishayla was arrested and charged with concealment of birth and attempted murder.
