MISTRIAL DECLARED IN MURDER TRIAL DUE TO PREGNANT JUROR

Date:

A mistrial has been declared in the trial of 32-year-old Lionel Price, who is charged in the Charlotte, NC 2016 murder of Fredrick Butler, 40.

Jury deliberations began January 16, 2019 at the Mecklenburg County Court, but before jurors could resume deliberations, one of the jurors went into premature labor.

State law prohibits the court from replacing a juror with an alternate juror after deliberations have begun.

As a result, Judge Gregory Hayes declared a mistrial.

This case remains pending.
