MAN KILLED IN HIT & RUN WRECK NEAR OVERHEAD LIGHT RAIL TRACK

On Sunday, August 2, 2020 34-year-old Aaron Lyle was killed in a traffic hit and run motor vehicle collision which occurred on University City Blvd. Charlotte, NC.

At approximately 4:35 a.m. while officers were patrolling they located Aaron laying in the roadway. The victim appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Medic and Fire responded to the scene, medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. The collision was close to the light rail track.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain on the scene. Major Crash Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Aaron was walking when he was struck by a vehicle. Aaron was not in a crosswalk and was in a poorly lit area of the roadway, officials say. Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the pictured vehicle. It is a silver 2009 – 2011 Infinity G-35 or G-37 with a plate (possibly a temporary tag) in the rear window.

The vehicle will be missing the lower front right bumper/ air dam area under the right headlight and may have windshield damage.
