Eric Elsea, 34, was killed after being hit by a truck on Laywers Rd. Charlotte, NC. Police say that Eric had alcohol in his system.
On October 19, 2018 at 9:53 p.m., cops responded to a person down call for service on Lawyers Road. Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian in the roadway that had been hit by a vehicle. MEDIC responded and pronounced the pedestrian, Eric Elsea deceased at 10:02 p.m.
The vehicle that struck Eric failed to stop at the scene. The CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit and the DWI Task Force responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
The preliminary investigation shows Eric was walking on Lawyers Road. Eric was walking towards traffic, but was not wearing any reflective clothing. The roadway does have overhead street lights, but this section of the roadway has no sidewalks or shoulder. A white mid 2000s Ford F-350 truck hit Eric as he was walking.
The truck didn’t stop.
Alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor for Eric.
