MAN KILLED AT SHOPPING CENTER DURING FIGHT, SUSPECT ARRESTED

35-year-old James Christel was shot and killed on September 14, 2020 at the Countryside Shopping Center in Pineville, NC. On September 16, 2020 Bryan Hancock, 36, was arrested and charged with murder regarding the encounter.

A fight broke out in the parking light of the parking lot between the two men. The fight was the result of an argument that started around 11 pm. James was shot and he died almost immediately. Bryan is accused of leaving the scene.

Two days later the U.S. Marshal’s Carolina’s Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Bryan on a second degree murder charge. He was found in south Charlotte and taken into custody without incident.

James had a wife and three children.
