Marty Parrott, 27, was killed after being hit by a Light rail train in Charlotte, NC.
On Sunday July 7, 2019 at 11:31p.m., Marty walked past the Light Rail Cross Bars at the intersection of North Tryon Street and University Pointe Boulevard, which is near the Wal-Mart.
As Marty was crossing the tracks, he was struck by a Light Rail Train that was traveling north.
Marty was transported to Atrium Health by medics where he succumbed from his injuries. There were no reported injuries to any passengers on the train.
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Unit along with Charlotte Area Transit System representatives were called to the scene to conduct the investigation. Their initial investigation has revealed that the crossing bars, warning lights, and audible warning signals were all working properly at the time of the crash.
