MAN DROWNS TO DEATH IN LAKE NORMAN, BODY IN WATER HASN’T BEEN FOUND

Date:

A 22-year-old man drowned in Lake Norman on September 7, 2019 in the evening.

Officers with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said the man was on a rental boat with 10 other people when he jumped off in Mooresville, NC.

The man was wearing a life jacket, but it came off when he jumped in the water and that’s when he drowned, according to officials.

A Charlotte Fire Department dive team, helicopters, and sonar were used to search for the man for nearly five hours, but the search was suspended by 9 pm.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission says:

“The life jacket was put on but probably not adjusted tight enough so that’s why it slipped off when he jumped in the water. Make sure you wear your life jacket at all times make sure it is adjusted to your size and body weight.”
