Travon Woods, 33, was arrested on October 4, 2023 accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Charlotte, NC. Travon was arrested on the same day he was released from prison.
The 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused in 2014 on Shamrock Drive Charlotte, NC. The suspect was 24-years-old at the time of the sex abuse claim.On August 13, 2014, at 11:32 p.m., officers responded to a sexual assault call. Officers located the juvenile girl who stated she had been sexually assaulted by an adult male suspect.
The female victim was taken to a local hospital where a sexual assault kit was collected.As of a result of the continued work by detectives with the Cold Case Unit, Travon was identified as the suspect in this case through DNA association in the Combined DNA Index System in 2016.
At the time, Travon was incarcerated on unrelated charges at the Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville, NC. Travon was released from prison on October 4, 2023, he was then immediately arrested and charged in connection to the juvenile sexual assault cold case investigation. Travon was charged with the following: statutory rape, statutory sex offense, and indecent liberties with a minor.
