On January 6, 2023 Khalil Jefferson, 22, was found dead in the Tar River in Greensville, NC. Khalil had been missing for over a month.
Khalil was reported missing on December 2, 2022 and on the same day his car was found empty at Greensprings Park. A note was found indicating that Khalil wanted to hurt himself.
Fast forward to January 2023 Khalil was found dead behind Dockside Apartments in the Tar River in the morning. A search was being conducted and a cadaver dog alerted to the smell of a human body.
A dive team then located Khalil dead in the river. No foul play is suspected, as this was likely a suicide case.
