40-year-old Stephanie Voikin was killed on April 6, 2021 by police in Miami, Florida while she was being evicted from the Brickell Apartments. Times were getting hard for Stephanie.
Officers with the Miami-Dade’s eviction task force breached Stephanie’s front door to serve an eviction execution. Officials say Stephanie fired a shot at the task force officers. At least one officer returned fire, striking Stephanie.
“She fired the firearm and it hit our shield. Thanks to the grace of God, none of our officers were injured,”
said Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez.
Stephanie was rushed to the hospital where she died. Brickell Apartments had reportedly been trying to evict Stephanie for a year, but the moratorium on evictions because of the Coronavirus prevented the eviction from going through during that time.
