A pregnant nurse at South Seminole Hospital has lost her baby due to a physical assualt by a hospital patient at the hospital in Longwood, FL on October 30, 2021. Joseph Wuerz, 53, is the suspect. The nurse was 32 weeks pregnant.
The nurse was giving medicine to a patient in the behavioral health unit at the hospital. Joseph entered the room and allegedly shoved the nurse against a wall and kicked her in the stomach area.
South Seminole Hospital security officers swiftly pulled Joseph off the nurse. Moments after the attack, the nurse’s baby had no heartbeat and doctors told the nurse her baby had died.
Police arrested Joseph and charged him with homicide of an unborn child, aggravated battery on a first responder, and aggravated battery on a pregnant victim.
