The boys, ages 6 and 9, were home alone on May 24, 2019 while their mother Latamara was at work. Latamara told her kids that if they wanted something to eat they had to call her.

The boys got hungry and decided to call Latamara, but she didn’t answer her phone, so the boys ate some ravioli from a can like any hungry young kid would do. When Latamara returned home and saw her kids had eaten the ravioli she became irate, grabbed an extension cord and began hitting both victims over their legs, lower torso, thighs, hips and buttocks areas.

After Latamara beat her kids, she did not provide any medical treatment for their injuries. Latamara then took the boys to their father’s home and dropped them off.

The Department of Children and Families began an investigation on May 28 after Latamara was arrested and accused of pinning her boys’ father with her vehicle while the kids were in his car.

During a medical evaluation, the children revealed that the marks on their bodies were caused by the extension cord their mother used to hit them with.

The investigation revealed:

“The defendant maliciously and intentionally beat the victims more than a reasonable person would deem as an acceptable form of corporal punishment. The defendant’s acts caused the victims unjustifiable pain, injuries and permanent scarring.”
