A Milwaukee, Wisconsin childrens judge identified as Brett R. Blomme, 39, pleaded guilty in federal court to 2 counts of distributing child pornography on September 28, 2021.
Judge Brett distributed child pornography to other people through the Kik Messenger app. The judge uploaded child pornography through the Kik app on 27 occasions in October and November of 2020.
The Justice Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the child pornography Brett was distributing. A search warrant was then issued for the Kik account.
The search warrant revealed the judge’s email address and IP data, which showed the judge used his Kik account at his home and at the Milwaukee County government building where he worked and performed official judge duties.
Judge Brett resigned from office in September 2021 after he was suspended without pay by the Milwaukee State Supreme Court.
Judge Brett became a judge in August 2020, with a term scheduled to end July 31, 2026.
Judge Brett will spend at least five years in prison because of a mandatory minimum sentence.
