CHARLOTTE MAN DIES IN SKY DIVING ACCIDENT, EX FOOTBALL PLAYER

Andrew Kelly Rawls, 35, died in a skydiving accident on September 24, 2022 in Chester County, South Carolina. The deadly accident was at 1:30 p.m. while Andrew was skydiving with the company Sky Dive Carolina.

Andrew was in a parachute skydiving and at some point during landing he died. 

Andrew was highly experienced and had made more than 1,000 previous jumps. Andrew was a former Charlotte area high school football player, he played QB for multiple schools.

Andrew went on to college where he earned an BA in Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill; an MBA in Finance from Ohio University in 2020; and a 2022 Master of Science from Vanderbilt University.

The following statement was made from Skydive Carolina:

“Skydiving is a close-knit sport with a strong sense of camaraderie. Losing a member of our community affects everyone and we mourn the loss of a friend and fellow jumper. Our sincerest condolences go out to the jumper’s family.”
