9-year-old Zion Person was shot and killed on August 18, 2019 in Durham, NC. An 8-year-old boy was also shot, but survived.
Around 9 p.m. a burgundy Honda Accord with tinted windows pulled next to and fired shots into the SUV the children were riding in. Investigators don’t believe the shooting was random. Young Zion died at the hospital. The other minor victim was shot in the arm, but is expected to be okay.
Durham Police Chief C.J. Davis says:
“I and members of the Durham Police Department extend condolences to the family of Zion Person. This is another act of senseless violence that simply must be stopped and we are working aggressively to identify the people involved. I am asking anyone with information to come forward and speak with our investigators.”
