36 people were shot and seven people were killed in Chicago over the 2019 Labor Day holiday weekend.
On September 1, a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed on the West Side of Chicago. At 2:19 a.m. Dovantae Jackson, 15, was shot in the leg and back. Dovantae was pronounced dead on the scene.
20 minutes later a man was killed and a woman wounded in a shooting at a party in on the South Side of Chicago.
Several people were gathered inside of a residence when someone at the party opened fire. The 27-year-old male victim suffered numerous gunshot wounds to the body and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
On the same day, about an hour later, a drive-by shooting killed a man and wounded another on the Southwest Side of Chicago. The two victims were traveling in a vehicle about 3:54 a.m. when someone fired shots from a passing vehicle.
On the evening of Saturday August 31, two men age 26 and 32 were killed and three more people were wounded after a suspect shot at a group of people on the South Side of Chicago.
Also on August 31 Angel Perez, 18, was killed and another person wounded in a double shooting on the West Side of Chicago.
42-year-old Willie Coker was killed in a shooting in South Chicago on August 31.
23 other people were shot across Chicago since 5 p.m. Friday August 30.
