UNDOCUMENTED FATHER & SON RESCUED FROM RIVER WHILE ENTERING U.S.A. ILLEGALLY

Date:

On July 17 agents observed a father and son enter the Salinity Canal near Yuma Arizona.

Agents noticed that the pair was struggling as the current was quickly taking them down stream. Agents deployed a rescue disc but were unable to make connection. Agents instructed the father to grab on to a nearby bush and hand the child over to agents. He complied and agents pulled the child to safety.

Agents assisted the father in exiting the canal shortly after.

Neither subject complained of any injuries but were transported to a regional medical center out of caution. The father was diagnosed with acute respiratory distress as a result of the incident and received treatment.  He was later released from the hospital.

Both subjects were processed for immigration violations.
