STUCK TRACTOR TRAILER LEADS TO FAILED HUMAN SMUGGLING ATTEMPT

A stuck tractor-trailer on railroad tracks in Laredo, TX led to the apprehension of 23 illegal immigrants by U.S. Border Patrol agents during a failed human smuggling attempt.

The incident occurred on the morning of August 3, 2020 when agents responded to assist deputies with a white tractor-trailer that was stuck on railroad tracks.

Agents conducted an immigration inspection on 23 individuals whom deputies had discovered being transported in the trailer. They were all illegally in the United States from the countries of Mexico and Honduras. They were taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol. 

The driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested. Union Pacific Railroad Police took custody of the tractor-trailer, federal officials say.
