CHILD SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT IN DESERT BY BORDER PATROL

Date:

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted aggravated felon that was an undocumented immigrant.

On September 27, 2019 in Calexico, California agents encountered a man suspected of illegally entering the United States in a desert region. Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man was Oscar Rodriguez-Espinoza, a 52-year-old Mexican national, convicted of Attempted Murder and Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14 in 2003 out of the state of California.

Rodriguez received an 11-year prison sentence for those crimes. Rodriguez was removed from the United States by an Immigration Judge on Sept. 11, 2012 as an aggravated felon. Rodriguez is being held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.
