Two illegal immigrants were hiding in the trunk of a vehicle at an immigration checkpoint in Yuma, AZ. Two United States citizens were in the front of the vehicle.
On November 21, 2020 a Nissan Sentra car approached the checkpoint. The car was referred for a secondary inspection. During a search of the vehicle, agents located two Mexican nationals hiding in the trunk.
Agents arrested the U.S. citizen female driver and male passenger for illegal immigrant smuggling and seized their vehicle. The illegal immigrants were also arrested for immigration violations and returned to Mexico.
It is often that illegal immigrants hide in confined spaces like a vehicle’s trunk in an effort to sneak past law enforcement and through federal checkpoints.
