SON OF POLICE CHIEF ARRESTED FOR METH POSSESSION

Date:

Benjamin Long, 25, was arrested Saturday in Myrtle Beach on charges of possessing methamphetamine and cocaine. Benjamin’s father, Dale Long, is the police chief of Conway. Daddy can’t get you out of this.

Benjamin was surprised he had been in possession of meth, saying:

“I had no clue that was meth. I thought it was coke. I will admit to that, but I am not going to admit to meth.”

Officers saw a suspicious vehicle backed into a parking space at Withers Alley and Withers Drive around 2:15 a.m on June 22. There were three people inside, including the driver, Benjamin Long, who showed signs of alleged impairment. When Benjamin stepped out of the vehicle, reportedly a baggie containing a white powder was visible.

There was also a metal tray in the car that had the same white powder, which tested positive for meth, according to Myrtle Beach officials. Officers also allegedly found a third bag inside the vehicle that they say tested positive for cocaine. Benjamin was arrested.

Benjamin is free on a personal recognizance bond.
