$10 MILLION WORTH OF COCAINE FOUND IN FRUIT TRUCK

Date:

More than $10 million in cocaine was found on a fruit by DEA Agents in the Bronx, NY. The fruit truck was a guise for cocaine, as the truck contained rotting papayas, oregano and coconuts.

Miguel Marte-Veras, was arrested and faces drug trafficking charges. The drugs were discovered during a surveillance operation.

On Aug. 28, 2019 DEA agents observed two vehicles enter a commercial warehouse at 559 Longfellow Ave. Bronx, NY through a metal security gate.

One truck was transporting a shipping container, while the other vehicle was a tractor-trailer carrying a blue and white refrigerated container.

DEA agents raided the warehouse and located over 100 kilograms “bricks” of cocaine in a fruit truck. Miguel Marte-Veras is the only arrest thus far.

Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan said in a statement:

“This investigation uncovered a commercial warehouse close to the busy Hunts Point markets that served as a front for international narcotics importation. The sheer amount of cocaine seized in one week reflects the magnitude of this drug operation.”
