MOTHER ARRESTED IN DEATH OF 4-YEAR-OLD SON

Date:

Huntersville, NC police arrested and charged Lashonda Hudson, 36, with the murder of her 4-year-old son. Lashonda is officially charged with murder and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. Lashonda’s arrest happened five months after her son died.

The investigation began in October 2018 when officers were notified about the boy’s death by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials deemed the death was “suspicious,” at the time, but had not made any arrests because of a pending investigation. Internal hemorrhages were found in the child’s head and stomach.

The child lived with his mother Lashonda, his 10-year-old brother, and his mother’s boyfriend at an apartment complex.

Huntersville Police Captain Kevin Johnston had this to say:

The preliminary investigation suggests that the death may be the result of a homicide, we are working closely with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Department of Social Services, as well as interviewing potential witnesses and actively pursuing leads in this investigation. This is a tragic death of an innocent child.
