On October 19, 2019 50-year-old Socorro Maya Martinez was killed by Danyel Middleton near Concord Mills Mall in North Carolina.
Danyel allegedly drove into an overnight road crew outside Concord Mills mall early that morning. Socorro was killed and three other workers were sent to trauma centers.
Socorro was part of a crew from Cruz Brothers Concrete who were improving Concord Mills Boulevard near entry A of the mall when they were hit about 1:45 a.m., officials say.
Danyel is charged with felony death by vehicle. She was jailed on $1 million bail.
Officials say Danyel was appreciably impaired by alcoholic beverages and her blood alcohol levels were above the legal limit.
Danyel may face additional charges when an investigation is finished.
