1-year-old Mateo Ayala-Martinez died on December 14, 2021 after being ran over by a truck. The baby was accidently ran over by his father on Huntsmoor Drive Charlotte, NC.
On Monday, December 13, 2021, the father went outside his residence to move a Chevrolet truck from where it was parked in the driveway to a different location within the same driveway.
The father pulled slightly forward before beginning to back up, which is when he heard baby Mateo yelling. The father exited the vehicle, and saw that he had just hit baby Mateo with the pickup truck.
Mateo’s mother was inside the house when the crash occurred, and both parents had reason to believe that Mateo was also inside. The parents transported Mateo to Atrium Health Pineville Hospital.
Mateo was air lifted to Atrium Health Main Hospital due to his life threatening injuries.
Unfortunately on December 14, 2021, at 4:24 a.m., baby Mateo was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
