On September 4, 2022 Charles Whitfield, 51, died in a motorcycle collision on The Plaza Charlotte, NC. Charles had a young son.
The crash was at 5:46 p.m. Charles was driving a motorcycle on The Plaza. Charles entered a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle lost control and ran off the road striking a curb and ejecting Charles from the vehicle.
The victim was wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet at the time of the crash and did not have a passenger. Excessive speed does not appear to be a contributing factor. Toxicology results are pending and will determine if alcohol impairment was a contributing factor to this crash.
Charles had serious injuries when paramedics arrived. Upon medic’s arrival, Charles was transported to Atrium Health Main Hospital. He was pronounced deceased at 6:13 p.m. due to injuries he sustained from the crash.
