45-year-old Royce Mitchell (Left) was arrested today, charged with the 2009 murders of Tiffany Wright, 16, (Right) and her newly born daughter Aaliyah Wright.
Prior to the murder Royce had already been arrested for statutory rape of Tiffany.
Tiffany was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of her murder.
On September 14, 2009, Royce shot Tiffany on Mallard Creek Road while she was waiting for her school bus. The pregnant Tiffany died at the scene, but her baby was delivered at the scene and transported to Carolinas Medical Center where she died just five days later.
Homicide Detectives were recently given information from a member of the community that led them in confirming Royce as the suspect in this case. Detectives obtained warrants for his arrest.
Royce allegedly confessed to the murder while speaking with a unidentified member of the community, that person then notified police.
