MAN KILLED ON STATESVILLE AVENUE AFTER BEING STRUCK BY FORD FOCUS

On October 11, 2019 at 5:36 a.m., a 53-year-old man was killed on Statesville Ave. Charlotte, NC.

A Ford Focus was traveling on Statesville Ave. The Ford Focus struck the victim who was lying in the roadway. Just prior to the crash, the victim was standing on the sidewalk with other people and unexpectedly entered the roadway. The victim, while entering the roadway, fell into the right lane and into a prone position just prior to being struck.

The Ford Focus stopped immediately and remained on scene. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 6:21 a.m. by medical staff.

Speed and alcohol are not factors for the operator of the Ford Focus. The victim was not in a crosswalk and alcohol use is unknown at this time.
