U.S. Border Patrol agents in Tucson, Arizona stopped a human smuggling attempt on February 19, 2020 involving illegal immigrants locked in the trunk of a car.
Federal agents assigned to the state Route 85 immigration checkpoint near Ajo arrested an adult male from Phoenix for smuggling two illegal immigrants in the trunk of his Mitsubishi Mirage.
Chief Roy D. Villareal of the Tucson Sector says:
“These arrests illustrate the complexity of our mission. Agents never know who they will encounter, and no situation is routine.”
